Hello Iraq ,

How are you doing today? How are your people? How is their happiness and sadness, their hope and despair? How is it to be you?

You see I know nothing about you. I do not know your thoughts, feelings, culture, and religion. I do not know one single Iraqi in flesh and blood. But I am involved in your life because my American vote affects your country. I fear American opinion will continue to control the fate a whole separate nation, yet I know nothing about you.

History holds a lessons for us now. When people don't empathize with each other, life and death are no longer human. Death becomes a statistic, life becomes invisible. I believe there are many ways to kill a human, one by murder, two by ignorance and apathy. Evil only needs our selfishness and apathy to sneak into the world. We would never let our neighbor suffer, but someone across the world lives and dies unknown to us.

This is why I made this site, because people need a voice. Empathy is key. In a global world we are all neighbors. In communication we can find the hearts and souls of people. When we find this, we do right by them.

مرحبا يا عراق,

كيف الحال وكيف حال أهلك؟ وما أخبار أفراحهم وأتراحهم وآمالهم ويأسهم؟ ولا أدري كيف تشعر لأنك أنت العراق؟

أنا لا اعرف شيئاً عنك ولا أعلم فيم تفكر وتشعر وكيف هي الحياة فيك أو الدين, ولا أعرف أي شخص عراقي معرفة شخصية, غير أني أصبحت طرفاً في حياتك منذ أن أدليت بصوتي في الانتخابات مما أثر على بلادك. أخشى أن الرأي العام الأمريكي سيواصل سيطرته على مصير أمتك ولكني لا أعرف شيئاً عنك قط.

لقد علمنا التاريخ درساً حين لا يشعر البشر بآلام غيرهم يتجرد الموت والحياة من بشريتهما ويصبح الموت مجرد رقم وتصبح الحياة غير مرئية. برأيي ثمة طرق عديدة لزهق النفس البشرية, احدها بالقتل وغيرها بالتجاهل وآخرها بعدم الاكتراث. راية الشر لا ترفع إلا بأنانيتنا ولا مبالاتنا وقد نحول دون معاناة جارنا الجنب غير أن من الوارد أن يتوفى شخص في الطرف الآخر من العالم دون أن ندري.

ولهذا السبب تحديداً أنشأت هذا الموقع لأني أعرف أن الناس بحاجة لأن يسمعون أصواتهم, ولكي يمنحون ذلك يحتاجون إلى من يتعاطف معهم. في هذه الدنيا أصبحنا كلنا جيران وبالتواصل يمكننا أن نلمس روح المقابل وقلبه وعندها نصبح قريبين منهم
